chains
it seems like my tutorials get read and are enjoyed, so i decided to go for another one. this is a description how to make chains similar to those of black marketeer of world war III.
once again my advice: don't just copy it, learn from it, improve it and mix it with your own techniques.
make a new file. make a new layer, go to the radial gradient tool, go into the gradient options and select a gradient from black (0%) to white (50%) to black (100%). make a circular selection. use the radial gradient tool from the center to the end of the selection. you should get something like that odd donut on the left side.
select the top half of the donut and move it some pixels to the top.
take the last horicontal pixelrow of one of the half donut and press (strg+t) to make a transformation. scale this row until it closes with the other half of the donut.
apply the same procedure vertically, so that the chain gets a bit more wide. make the middle area as wide as the left and right parts of the chain.
delete the inner part of the chain.
make a new layer and make another radial selection. use the radial gradient tool again from the middle, only this time we use a normal black to white gradient instead of the black / white / black gradient we used the first time. break the sphere in the middle and apply the same procedure as with the donut. make sure that this part is as long as the other chainpart. readjust brightness and contrast, if neccessary.
if bored, add details, add noise, make dropshadow, add highlights, play with brightness / contrast, try other gradientvariations, make metal etc etc.
add irregular stuff to grind things up. |
